Feline Declaw
Feline Declaw Surgery is a somewhat controversial procedure. Although most veterinarians still perform the surgery, it is only recommended in cases where behavioral modification and nail trimming have not solved scratching problems. In nearly all cases, damage from cat claws can at most be avoided with a front paw declaw. We almost never recommend declawing all four feet of a cat, except when owners are on blood thinners. Do not take this surgery lightly. It can take 2-4 weeks for a cat to completely regain its agility after surgery. Talk to a doctor about this procedure and our laser surgery option, which can dramatically reduce post-surgical pain.
