Gastric Dilatation Volvulus (Bloat)

A rare but deadly condition, The 'textbook' bloat patient is a large or giant dog who has excercised vigorously shortly after eating a full meal. In a case like this, the stomach can literally flip over on itself obstructing the in-flowing (esophageal) and out-flowing (pyloric) sphincters. This is an absolute emergency, and will result in death in as little as a few hours. We are capable of performing this procedure, but it is often best left to 24 hours emergency vet hospitals. Please call the hospital @ 610.323.9454 if you need further advisement. You can find the contact information for several emergency clinics by clicking here,
